# Optional SignalBus transport

Character State is standalone and has no SignalBus plugin or module dependency. Its owner command API executes locally, and native Changed and ThresholdCrossed notifications work with only Character State installed.

When decoupled SignalBus routing is needed, DirectorBridge provides the optional CharacterState.SignalBus integration. The adapter owns the routes and translates SignalBus commands into the public Character State command seam, then transports owner acknowledgements and native owner events. Character State remains the authority for validation, mutation, and event meaning. Installing SignalBus without DirectorBridge does not change Character State behavior.

The canonical transport route names are owned by DirectorBridge and are documented with that integration. This owner document does not define route constants.
