QuickStart

Review draft. This source page has not completed website editorial and release-specific verification.

# Quick start

  1. Add UKnowledgeComponent to the actor that represents a semantic participant. Set a concrete Knowledge.Subject.* identity.
  2. Author concrete child tags under Knowledge.Fact.*, Knowledge.Evidence.*, and Knowledge.Belief.*. Bare roots are namespaces, not valid item identities.
  3. Acquire state through AcquireFact or AcquireEvidence, passing an FKnowledgeProvenance.
  4. Set or adjust a subjective position with SetBeliefConfidence or AdjustBeliefConfidence.
  5. Query exact state with HasFact, HasEvidence, HasBelief, and GetBeliefConfidence.
  6. Record a source disclosure with DiscloseKnowledge. Check it with HasDisclosedKnowledgeTo; disclosure does not grant the item to the recipient.
  7. Use UKnowledgeSubsystem::CapturePersistenceSnapshot and ValidatePersistenceSnapshot for semantic persistence. Optional SaveGame adaptation is provided by DirectorBridge.
  8. During PIE/SIE, open Tools → Director Suite → Runtime Inspectors → Knowledge Director Runtime Inspector to observe a subject; this surface is strictly read-only. For fact, evidence, belief, disclosure, or temporary debug operations, use Tools → Director Suite → Runtime Controls → Knowledge Director Runtime Controls. See Editor Tools for role, scope, and baseline consequences.

The Dialogue bridge resolves an authored Dialogue Role to its runtime ParticipantObject and then to that participant’s UKnowledgeComponent; it never asks Knowledge to find an actor globally.

The Inspector is read-only and shows the selected subject snapshot. Runtime Controls owns all normal and advanced mutations. The session journal is editor-only, not persistence. PIE end clears live state. See Runtime Inspector and Editor Tools.
